A Practical Guide to Recurring Invoices for Service Businesses

By i-quote team1 min read

Retainers, maintenance contracts and subscriptions all mean sending the same invoice on a schedule. Doing it by hand is repetitive and easy to forget, and a late invoice means late payment.

Before automating, decide three things: how often you bill (weekly, monthly or yearly), whether every invoice should go out automatically or be reviewed first, and how you will handle changes such as a price rise.

In i-quote, mark an invoice as recurring and choose its frequency. When the next one is due it is created and emailed to your client, or saved as a draft for you to check if you have turned automatic sending off. Clients can see their invoices in the customer portal and pay by card.
