What to include on an invoice
- Your business details
- Your business name, address, email and phone, so the client knows who is billing them and how to reach you.
- Who you are billing
- The client’s name, and their email and address if you have them.
- A unique invoice number
- Number invoices in order (INV-001, INV-002…) so you and your client can refer to each one without confusion.
- Issue date and due date
- When the invoice was issued and when payment is expected. A clear due date makes it obvious when an invoice is late.
- Itemised lines
- A description, quantity and unit price for each product or service, so the client can see what they are paying for.
- Tax and discount, shown separately
- Show the subtotal, any discount and the tax rate on their own lines before the total.
- Payment terms
- How and when to pay: bank details, accepted methods, or any late-payment terms you work to.
Questions
Is this invoice generator really free?
Yes. Making, downloading and printing invoices on this page costs nothing, and you can make as many as you like. You do not need an account, an email address or a card.
Do I need to sign up?
No. Fill in the form and download your invoice straight away. An account is only needed if you want to send the invoice online from i-quote and get paid by card.
Is anything I type uploaded or stored?
No. The document is built in your browser and nothing you type is sent to i-quote. Your logo stays in this tab and is gone when you close it. If you choose to send it online, the draft is kept in this browser so you can import it after you sign up, and it is uploaded only when you save it in your account.
How do I get paid by card?
Card payments need a free i-quote account connected to Stripe. You send the invoice from your account, your client opens it from the email and pays by card, and the money goes to your own Stripe account at Stripe’s standard processing fee. i-quote adds no fee per invoice.
Can I add my logo and use my own currency?
Yes. Upload a PNG or JPG logo and pick USD, EUR, GBP, CAD, ILS or MXN, the six currencies the i-quote app supports. Totals, tax and discount are worked out with the same rounding the app uses, so the figures stay the same if you import the invoice into a free account.
